Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1 — Dar es Salaam → Mikumi
Board the SGR express train from Dar es Salaam. Arrive Morogoro, where your guide meets you for the road transfer to Mikumi (approx. 50 minutes). Check in at Camp Atupele Lodge and enjoy a hot lunch. Afternoon game drive across the Mkata floodplain — elephant herds, buffalo, giraffes, and the resident lion prides are all likely encounters. Return to camp for dinner and overnight.
Day 2 — Full Game Drive → Dar es Salaam
Early breakfast and a full morning game drive during the most productive wildlife hours. The Mkata floodplain at dawn offers exceptional photography light and active predators. Return to camp for lunch, pack out, and transfer to Morogoro for the SGR train back to Dar es Salaam. Arrive early evening.
